8 Down, 1 to Go

Bailey (formerly Dory) & her new Pa'Paw
So much has happened since my last post. Most notably ALL PUPPIES ARE SPOKEN FOR. We even have a cancellation list as backups in case there are any "cold feet". Lucy on the other hand has had ZERO interest! Once the puppy shine wears off so many dogs are easily looked over. Lucy's only flaw is living past puppyhood.

It's been both fun & rewarding meeting all the new "Forever Families". My faith in humanity has been reaffirmed. It's reassuring to know  there are genuinely good people out there. The future of mankind  looks promising as well. The children of all the families are all  surprisingly bright & kind. I think I've had a few to many bad trips to Walmart on Saturday afternoons confronted by screaming out of control brats. It's refreshing to see the love in the eyes of the children, both for the puppies and for their families.Crush, was the 1st to be claimed. his family has been approved by Rescue since March & only now have they found a puppy that spoke to them like Crush. No surprise since Crush speaks to everyone! Crush now has 3 kids & another dog to play with. Bruce, was 2nd to be claimed. His family is so excited! They've done their homework & are ready for a new addition. He will be the children's 1st dog.  One of the contractors doing work on our yard renovation will be sad to see Bruce go. He took an extra special liking to him since they share the same name. Bruce's new collar is a favorite chew tow for his litter mates. It's a good lesson in tolerance for Bruce & one less thing for him to have to get used to in his new home Bailey (formerly Dory) , will be an addition to a young energetic couple with cats. I'm not worried about the cats, they'll put Bailey in her place. As long as they keep Bailey tired & trained this marriage looks promising. Cooper(formerly Nigel), Is our most memorable puppy. The vets office asks mostly about him most...& Nemo is the sick one. Sunday our whole family was over & Cooper was the biggest conversation piece. Everyone tries to figure him out..we're still trying! His family has also done their homework & are fellow Cesar Milan followers. With Cesar in their corner they'll do great. The way they handle their precious two year old is an indication of their devotion & patience. Squirt 's adoption was of the most relief. He is such a cute & sweet puppy but has a look that isn't traditionally puppy cute. He is the favorite amongst all of the contractors doing work to our yard. Squirt is 1st at the gate to greet them in the mornings & 1st to run off with their coffee cups. He is always on a mission to find a new toy! His new mama is an Sea Lion trainer & already has a supply of toys for her new baby. Bella (formerly Pearl) is headed for her throne. She will be a princess in her new family. Her new parents are retired empty nesters  looking for someone to spoil. She turned on her charm & won their hearts. Peach is the last puppy to be adopted. So many applications had her listed as one of the puppies they were interested in but she keep getting over looked. Her prospective adoptive mama will be here later today to see if Peach is "the one". I may be jumping the gun, but I have a good feeling about it. She, like Squirts mama is an animal trainer who has a Boxer & is looking for a play mate for him. Of all the puppies Peach is the one who is most attached to Lucy. She is the one who loves to nibble one her ears & chew on her tail. A home with another dog would be so nice for her. My fingers are crossed. if by chance that doesn't work out we have a list of approved applicants ready to give her a home. Nice to have a plan B. Nemo selected his family -  OURS!!! . After Sunday the spell was cast on us all. Nemo will be getting lots of attention & furry friends. His new fur brother Coach, a 1 year old Siberian Husky is eager to welcome him to the pack.

Now my new mission is getting Lucy a family of her own.

  1. I'll be praying the right family see what a great dog Lucy is! She is beautiful and well mannered with lots of patience. It won't be long before a home shows up for a well behaved adult dog as great as Lucy.
